I have done of 3 of my favorite musicians and huge influences on me artistically. These are graphite drawings done on illustration board. I have been commissioned for over 30 portriats and action shots by musicians, wedding promoters, and sports stars. The portraits take around 30-40 each with a 2 week time frame. |

Ode to Thelonious Monk. My favorite piano player ever.
Copied but never duplicated. I spent about 3 months working on this piece in total, I dont know how hours. Thousands of layers of various graphite pencils sharpened to a razor point over and over again. This is by far the slowest process where all concentration is needed.

Jimi Hendrix. The God himslef. Same transparent layering technique with razor sharp pencils and the slightest pressure from my hand. I did this picture with the intention of not having his guitar with him or being on stage.

Here is another drawing of Billy Watson local San Diego musician. I wanted a diffrent perspective of this drawing so I did it as if I were standing at one of his shows looking up from the crowd. It gives him a larger than life look which suites Billy's style very well. This was alot of fun to create.
